RULES! A-MUST-READ

Attention!//: All Members Must Read these rules either prior to joining Garrison High or after registration. Claiming that you haven’t read the rules isn’t an excuse for breaking them. The staff here expects that you to at least know and follow all the rules here, unless of course you make a mistake or forget one.

General//:

Registration: When you register either your first account or a new account, your username should be your character’s FIRST and LAST name. It’ll be easier for the members to link you to your characters and it’ll be easier to role play with you.

Forum Rating: At Garrison High the rating is PG-13, anything below PG-13 is perfectly fine, but nothing R or above. This is a forum for members to have fun and we don’t want to make them feel uncomfortable by posting graphic descriptions showing how much Gary and Mary love each other. If one of your posts is PG-13, but is on the line between that and R, post that it is serious PG-13 to members so they don’t read it and end up feeling uncomfortable.

Swearing: Swearing is aloud, but please don’t post it between every word. Swearing is usually used when someone is upset at something or someone, but don’t abuse it. If it gets out of hand, we may have to put limits on what words are acceptable.

Chat Speak: Please, Please, Please don’t use chat speak while role playing unless your character is sending an email, is on aim, or whatever, but other than that you may not. Most of us know proper grammar, so please try to use it, grammatical and spelling errors are perfectly fine as long as it is not consistent.

Member Behavior: The staff expects all members to treat each other with respect, regular member or staff member, it doesn‘t matter. Everyone wants to have a good time and if you cannot treat people the way you would want to be treated, you have no place here at Garrison High.

Mini Modding: Mini Modding will not be tolerated either. mini-modding would be continuously telling people what to do as if they were a mod, if i wanted you to moderate posts i would've given you the job. you see something in a post, just report it and don't make a fuss.

Characters//:

Applications: You have to fill out the application form before you can start role playing. You will find this in the Form Forum and please fill it out correctly. An admin will go through and accept all bios that are filled out properly and we’ll pm you if anything needs to be changed or fixed.
Bio: The Bio you created for your character, you are stuck with. Obviously your character will go through changes, but you cannot dramatically change your character or their past.

Your Character isn’t Perfect!: Everyone isn’t perfect, so that doesn’t give your character a right to be perfect. Give them some flaws, physical and emotional. For example Mary has a short temper and Gary is lanky and gaunt looking. Just add a few flaws to make your character believable, but not too many to have them be impossibly flawed. Also no character is better than another, so your character can’t have everything they want or know everything.

Avatars: Your avatar must be a picture of what your character looks like. It can be a celebrity, a model, a random person who’s picture you found on photobucket, or even a drawing/cartoon character. If your avatar is of a celebrity, please tell an admin so that we can let other members know that the celebrity is already in use. Also, it must NOT exceed more than 100x100; this can stretch the page and be hard to read for some people.

Be In One Place: Your character can't be in 2 places at once. It's just like in the real world, I can't be at Mcdonald's at the same time when I'm at school. If you're wanting your character to be in the cafeteria but you're in English, just simply say that you snuck out, asked for a hallpass, or something to make you leave to get to the cafeteria.

Canon//:

Real World: This role play’s canon takes place in the real world, so all laws of nature, science, etc should be followed here. None of the characters should have special powers or anything that isn’t physically possible in our time.

Classes: You are expected to go to classes and complete any homework, tests, quizzes, etc that are given by the teachers. If you show up after the teacher *shuts the door* and begins the lesson. Your character may open the door and say something like “Sorry I’m late Miss *insert teacher’s name*” If your character doesn’t show up at all, you are considered absent. A lot of unexcused absences leaves you at the mercy of the teachers.

Posts//:

Don’t Double Post: This means that you can’t immediately post after you posted in the same topic without letting someone post in between. If you need to add something, simply edit your post. Also don’t post things like “Anyone want to role play with me?”, these posts will just be deleted, members will role play with you, just be patient.

Role Play in Third Person(Past Tense)a: For example: “Mary walked to class, but was running late as usual. She decided to sneak in when the teacher wasn’t looking. Oh my god I’m so late she thought to herself as she sprinted down the hall.” This’ll make it easier to role play with others and for people to role play with you.

No Godmodding: God Modding is in essence when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. And example is when they simply cannot be harmed by any and all means other Role players try.

-It can be killing or injuring a character without the player's express permission.
-It can be when they simply can’t be hit and dodge all attacks or anything for this matter aimed at them.
-It can also be using other characters that other people RP with. In other words, if you do not RP as
Gary, then you cannot have Gary say anything, or do anything, without the player's express permission.
-It can be punching someone and knocking them down, this means that the other character didn’t have a chance to block the punch.

No Meta Gaming: Meta gaming is when players use knowledge that is not available to their character in order to change the way they play their character (usually to give them an advantage within the role play), such as knowledge of the mathematical nature of character statistics, or the statistics of a creature that the player is familiar with but the character has never encountered. In general, it refers to any gaps between player knowledge and character knowledge which the player acts upon. Also if Mary and Gary make out in the dorm and Bobbie knows all about it is meta gaming. The only way Bobbie would know this is if Mary or Gary told her or if she posted saying “Bobbie was eavesdropping on Mary and Gary until she saw them make out. Then she left the room to go and find Sue.”

Chat//:

No Fighting or Flaming!: You may not under any circumstances have a fight or flame at another member. If the fight gets out of hand, a mod has the right to break you up and take away your chat privileges for a certain amount of time. If it gets too out of hand or you have more than three chat offences, you’ll be banned from the chat and will be given a warning.

Conversations: You may use the chat box to talk with other members about character and out of character things. Cussing is also aloud in the chat, but it can’t be directed at another member. Also you may not pester members constantly about replying in their threads.

No Gossiping about other Members!: If you are caught talking shit about another member, you will get a warning without a freebie. That is just unacceptable behavior and other members can see what you’ve posted in the chat.

//: At any time moderators and administrators can ban or kick out a member if they are caught braking any rules.

CONSEQUENCES//:

your first mistake will be a freebie(depending on the matter). after your freebie, warnings will be handed out. after 4 warnings you will be suspended for a week(or however long a mod will think you should be suspended, again depending on the matter). after you get banned and come back, the consequences will start all over; freebie, warning, etc. you can ONLY get suspended TWICE. if you have to get banned for a third time, YOU ARE OUT NO EXCEPTIONS.
the rules are pretty easy to follow people, there is no reason that any of them should be broken. unless of course by mistake, we all make them.
